Joy Christian Ministries was established in January of 1992 in the living room of Sr. Pastor J.C. Myers, III. There were eleven people present. That summer the church moved to the V.F.W. Hall on Drever Avenue. After having to move several times over the next few years (because of buildings being sold and the city building new projects) the church found a new home.
In March of 2000 a building on Sunset Avenue, that had been used by the Apostolic church became available. We relocated and we moved in. We dedicated the sanctuary and the property to God. This one small building became our church, Sunday School and fellowship room. Then in 2001 the owner sold us the building and the parking lot. We were happy because now we could put down our roots and not be concerned about moving again. In 2003 a small house next the church, on a large piece of real estate, was sold to us. This gave us about one acre. We painted the house red to identify with the youth group, "Youth On Fire", and we call it "The Firehouse". It is used for teen ministry and the fellowship room. Our mission is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Our future is bright, our vision is big, and we believe that our best days are still in front of us. |
