A teenager had decided to quit high school, saying he was just fed up with it all. His father was trying to convince him to hang in there. “Son, you just can’t quit! All the people who are remembered in history didn’t quit. Abe Lincoln, he didn’t quit. Thomas Edison, he didn’t quit. Douglas MacArthur, he didn’t quit. Elmo McCringle…” “Who?” The son burst out. “Who’s Elmo McCringle?” “See,” the father replied, “You don’t know about him; HE QUIT!”
A common phenomenon in nature is, “The path of least resistance.” Electricity moving through a conduit will always travel where it has the easiest route. Rivers always travel around a mountain because it is easier than going through one. Cars are developed aerodynamically so there will be minimal wind resistance. And many people are like that too. It is easier to sit in front of the T.V. than to go to God’s house. It is easier to get angry at your spouse and let that anger smolder over the course of time than to sit down and work the problem through. Gazing at the newspaper is much easier than having a personal time of Bible study. And so we find that we humans are prone to take the path of least resistance. But there is one difference between us and a river or electricity. They will never have to give an account of what they have done. We will! Listen up! No matter what you are facing, quitting will profit you nothing. But whole heartedly following God’s plan for your life will win you everything. Here are five keys to help you stand tall when you feel like quitting: (1) Focus on God’s Word instead of the problem; what you focus on is what you will believe. (2) Take one step at a time in faith; inch by inch anything is a cinch. Like the song says: “One day at a time sweet Jesus.” (3) Stay positive and thankful; God said He would never leave you nor forsake you. A positive attitude makes you glad and your enemy mad. (4) Vocalize your needs to God with expectation; Jesus said ask and it shall be given. So expect! (5) Refuse to settle for second best; If God is for you who can be against you? Defeat isn’t part of God’s character and neither should it be a part of yours. Calvary was no cake walk. It was a bloody mess. But He went into it with a positive attitude and came out the other side with victory and power in His name. Here is where He defeated PTSD, sin, sickness, bondage, fear, insecurity, loneliness, and hell for you. He went through a horrible battle to set you free from a defeatist mindset. Christ paid a big price for your freedom; therefore, commit your life to Him and He will help you put away thoughts of defeat, failure, and hopelessness. Quitting will no longer be an option. You will have a drive to make it with God’s help. It’s impossible to lose when the owner of the universe is on your side. Know this, the Champion of champions is rooting for you to make it all the way to the top. For more info and service times you can visit us online at www.JoyChristianMinistries.com. |
